The Nigerian Senate has approved the appointment of Engineer Sani Muhammad Ndanusa as a non-career ambassador and high commissioner.
The confirmation came on Tuesday after lawmakers considered and adopted the report of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Senator Sani Abubakar, who represents Niger North.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had nominated Ndanusa for the diplomatic position before the committee screened him.
Presenting the committee’s recommendations during plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the nominee’s confirmation after senators unanimously supported it through a voice vote.
“The Senate confirms the nomination of Engineer Sani Muhammad Ndanusa for appointment as a Non-Career Ambassador/High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Akpabio said.
“The nomination of Engineer Sani Muhammad Ndanusa is hereby confirmed.”
The Senate President congratulated Ndanusa and expressed confidence that he would use his professional experience to promote Nigeria’s foreign policy interests and strengthen the country’s relationships with other nations.
