“You know that a child who does not give their mother money is committing a sin?” the mother allegedly said in the screenshot, which was widely shared online.
In response, the student said she had transferred her entire student allowance to her mother, emphasising that she was still studying and unable to contribute financially.
“You should understand that I have never asked you for money while I’m at university.
“Your child has been eating biscuits for three days in a row. Did you bother asking if I was doing OK?” the student reportedly replied.
The mother allegedly questioned why she had to support her daughter financially while she was studying, arguing that the situation should be the other way around.
“You are supposed to (financially) take care of me!” the mother allegedly told her daughter.
The post prompted an outpouring of support for the student, with users expressing concern over the financial and emotional pressures she appeared to be facing while pursuing her studies.
“Your mother should be grateful to have a daughter like you,” one user commented.
“Your mother has forgotten that a child is a responsibility, not an investment,” another remarked.
Other users urged the student to maintain some distance from her mother to protect her mental well-being.
