"Trend Korea 2027," an annual forecast of consumer trends for the coming year, topped Kyobo Book Centre's overall bestseller list for the third consecutive week in the third week of October. "Autobiography of Red," a novel by Anne Carson, this year's Nobel laureate in literature, ranked second after surging interest left copies in short supply. Another of Carson's signature works, "The Beauty of the Husband," entered the foreign fiction chart at No. 8, while "Eros the Bittersweet" ranked second in the essay category.
Alongside the strength of next year's trend forecasts, readers continued to show interest in personal finance and economics. Park Jong-hoon's "Fake Money, Real Wealth" debuted at No. 4, drawing notable support from male readers in their 30s to 50s. Min Jin Lee's new novel "American Hagwon" entered the list at No. 15, as the domestic following built by her earlier work "Pachinko" appears to have translated into purchases of the new title.
