Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of Uzbekistan's Presidential Administration, met with Peter Lee, Chairman of Henderson Land Group, one of the largest holding companies in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China, on October 16.
The meeting focused on potential joint projects in renewable energy, infrastructure development for New Tashkent, and education. During the talks, Mirziyoyeva expressed confidence that there are significant opportunities for developing long-term economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hong Kong.
She also emphasized Uzbekistan's openness to investment and its interest in working with leading business representatives from Hong Kong.
"Our country is open to investment, and we are interested in collaborating with Hong Kong's leading business circles. We are prepared to support partnership initiatives, including those facilitated through the newly established Tashkent International Financial Centre," the statement reads.
Earlier Daryo reported that a Hong Kong business delegation's visit to Central Asia led to the signing of 96 agreements and memoranda of understanding valued at approximately $1.65bn in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, reflecting efforts to expand economic cooperation in trade, finance, technology, aviation and investment.
During Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu's visit to Uzbekistan, the two sides also made progress toward establishing a mutual 30-day visa-free arrangement, improving air connections and strengthening partnerships in fintech, artificial intelligence, logistics and green finance.
