A six-year-old boy died after falling from a third-storey flat in Reservoir Hills, Durban, on Friday afternoon, according to a local first-response service.
“At about 5.30pm on Friday, we received frantic calls from residents living in Siripat Road, calling for assistance after the child fell from the window,” said Jodi Jones, director of First Responder KZN.
She said when paramedics got to the scene, the child was found to have sustained severe injuries to his head and body.
“Paramedics placed him on a ventilator and rushed him to Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, where doctors tried to resuscitate him.
“The boy unfortunately died during resuscitation efforts.”
Jones said the boy’s distraught parents were on scene, but she could not confirm if they were inside the home when the child had fallen.
“Our thoughts are with the child's family, the community, and everyone affected by this devastating loss. We extend our deepest condolences to them at this incredibly difficult time,” Jones added.
