The Secretary of the Ghana Association of University Administrators, Charles Aidoo, says the Association has reached some level of agreement with the government and its employers following negotiations over issues affecting its members.
His comments come after the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) directed all public universities to resume academic activities on Monday, October 19, 2026, and urged university administrators to resume their duties within the framework of ongoing good faith negotiations.
Speaking on 3FM Hot Edition On Thursday , October 14, 2026 , Mr Aidoo said the Association had reached an understanding with the government following a meeting involving the Minister of Education, a representative from the Ministry of Finance, the Chief Executive of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and representatives from the Ministry of Education and GTEC.
He said although the Association might not have achieved everything it wanted, it was satisfied that some of its concerns had been addressed.
Mr Aidoo added that the Association would report back to its members on the outcome of the negotiations. He said they are expecting a letter from the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission by Friday, after which the Association would call off the strike.
