Borko Stefanovic, an official of the Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP), said the European Serbia election coalition missed its last chance to stand down in favor of the Student List.
The SSP is the lead party in the coalition which includes Serbia Center (SRCE) and the Solidarity Civic Platform.
“The last chance has been missed for the European Serbia list to act with political responsibility and honor and to withdraw from the election process in favor of the Student List and its victory over Aleksandar Vucic's criminal regime,” Stafanovic wrote in an X post. He quit European Serbia late in September but has not left the SSP.
He warned that the consequences will be serious for the SSP which, he added, is gambling with its reputation, the years of its struggle, and the future of that political option.
“Insisting on participation in the elections as a separate opposition list, under these circumstances and after the failure to unite the entire opposition, is a serious mistake and a misunderstanding of the social atmosphere and the political will of the citizens of Serbia. Some people, unfortunately, have looked to the wrong compass, and there is no justification for that; any subsequent wisdom or accountability cannot bring comfort or justice to anyone. Now that all of Serbia is finally flowing into a single river of victory and change, every tributary must join it, without calculations. The only interest is and must be to break and topple Vucic's regime on October 25, and that is why we all must turn out in the elections in the greatest possible numbers and support the Student List. That is the greatest historical task of our generation, and we must not miss it for the future of Serbia and all its people,” he wrote.
