Former Benue Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has acknowledged the hardship facing Nigerians but urged citizens to support President Bola Tinubu, saying his policies are intended to lay a solid foundation for the country’s future.
Suswam made the appeal to Nigerian youths during the PBAT Door-to-Door rally in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Friday, urging them to vote massively for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He said the administration needed more time to consolidate its policies, arguing that the difficulties Nigerians were experiencing should not overshadow the potential long-term benefits of the reforms.

“Come next January, you will vote massively for this man so that he can consolidate on these policies for your own future. Don’t listen to any propaganda that people are churning out, there is suffering now, but there is no way you can build a future without experiencing some pains, we must experience those pains for us to be better tomorrow,” Suswam said.
He urged Nigerians to allow Tinubu another four years to continue his policies, expressing optimism that the administration would establish a foundation for future leaders to build upon.
“If we have taken those same steps, we won’t have been where we are today. Tinubu has taken it, please let’s allow him in the next four years, he will consolidate and hand over to somebody who shall build on it,” he said.
Suswam also commended the initiative behind the door-to-door campaign, attributed to oil magnate Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and encouraged supporters to take the campaign to their communities.
“Let me appreciate what Tompolo has decided to do by setting up door-to-door, so when you go back, know that voting and campaigning are not gathering like this, go back to your local government, go back to your village, talk to your parents, talk to your brothers about door-to-door, so that they will reason and understand what Tinubu is doing for the future of this country,” he said.
The former governor also explained his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he wanted to be associated with efforts to establish a foundation for the next generation.
He said he had previously remained outside the ruling party but decided to support Tinubu after considering the direction of the administration.
“I was one of those who wasn’t in APC but when I saw what was going on, I decided that let me not be behind, when history is written, let it be that Suswam was one of those who supported Tinubu to build a solid foundation for the younger generation of this country and I believe that all well-meaning Nigerians should be able to give this man the support that he needs, so that tomorrow we will have a better country,” he said.
Suswam reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing the administration’s policies as investments in the future of younger Nigerians.
“We support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, we support his courage, what he is doing for the younger generation of this country, what is happening now is for you. Yes, there are traces of hardship but tomorrow you will be better off for it, so let us support Tinubu for 2027,” he added.
