The Oklahoma Sooners and head coach Brent Venables are trying to bounce back after their 21-13 loss against the Kentucky Wildcats last week in Norman. This week, OU will hit the road to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville. That game will kick off at 2:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
However, the Sooners have also received their kickoff time and broadcast information for their next game, which will come back at home in Norman against the South Carolina Gamecocks. Once again, OU will play on the SEC Network, and that game will kick off at 3:15 p.m. CT.
It'll be the third straight week on the SEC Network for the Sooners, and it'll also be the third straight matchup for OU against the Gamecocks that will air on that channel. The two programs have spilt the only two matchups they've ever had, both coming in the last two seasons. South Carolina won 35-9 in Norman in 2024, but the Sooners returned the favor in Columbia in 2025, grabbing a 26-7 road victory.
South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer has history with Oklahoma, as he was OU's tight ends coach under former head coach Lincoln Riley from 2018 to 2020, prior to taking the head job at South Carolina. Beamer is one of three current SEC head coaches with Sooner ties, joining Tennessee's Josh Heupel and this week's opponent, Mississippi State's Jeff Lebby. Heupel and Lebby both played at OU as well. Adding in Riley at USC, that's four FBS head coaches with very strong ties to Oklahoma.
