A sign of a great cornerback is if you don’t notice him. It sounds weird, but if you don’t notice him, it means that the opposing quarterback isn’t throwing in his direction.
Bengals cornerback DJ Turner hasn’t been noticed in most of the Bengals’ first five games this season. The only time he really has was when he drew a holding call against DK Metcalf late in the game at the Steelers in Week 3.
Turner hasn’t let potential distractions regarding a contract extension impact him, and that goes all the way back to this offseason.
The proof has been in his play so far this season.
Bengals CB DJ Turner is making a strong case to be a potential All-Pro corner this year. Has been very sticky in coverage and surrendered very few yards per coverage snap.

For those in the analytics crowd, this is for you. Admittedly, I’m not an analytics guy. But this illustrates the season Turner is having through five games. He’s allowing barely a half-yard per coverage snap, which is impressive.
Turner has five passes defensed this season and 12 tackles. Impressively, nine of those are solo tackles.
