Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday conveyed his greetings to the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) as the party marked its 42nd foundation day. He described the AGP as a valued ally of the NDA and extended warm wishes to its members and leadership.
The AGP, which emerged from the historic Assam Accord of 1985, was formally constituted during its Golaghat convention. The accord had brought an end to the six-year-long agitation against illegal infiltration in the state, making the party’s foundation a significant milestone in Assam’s political history.
In a message shared on X, Sarma wrote, “Warm wishes to all members and the leadership of our valued ally, Asom Gana Parishad, on its Foundation Day,” emphasising the continuing partnership between the AGP and the BJP-led NDA in Assam’s governance.
