KUALA LUMPUR: Malakoff Corp Bhd has appointed Aznita Abdul Aziz as an independent non-executive director effective today.
Aznita brings about 26 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, primarily with the Petronas group, covering risk management, strategic planning, portfolio management, treasury operations and economic evaluation.
She is currently an independent non-executive director of Steel Hawk Bhd, where she chairs the nomination committee and sits on the audit and risk management committee and the remuneration committee.
Separately, Malakoff appointed deputy chief financial officer Nurshazwani Abd Malek as covering chief financial officer from Dec 1.
She will assume the role on an interim basis following the departure of Mohd Nazersham Mansor, who steps down on Nov 30 to pursue other career opportunities.
Malakoff chairman Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin said Aznita's experience in risk management, strategic planning and portfolio management would be valuable to the board, given her 26-year career in the oil and gas industry.
"Her perspective and expertise will be a strong addition to our board as we continue to navigate the opportunities and responsibilities that come with being Malaysia's largest independent power producer.
"On behalf of the board, I also wish to place on record our sincere appreciation to Mohd Nazersham for his years of service and the contributions he has made to Malakoff.
"We wish him the very best in his future endeavours," he said in a statement.
As Malaysia's largest independent power producer, the group continues to pursue its ambitions across power generation, renewable energy and environmental services, with strong leadership and sound governance at its core.
