Prince Harry moved back to the UK with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two kids to create “opportunities for the family.”
“Being able to put the kids in a British school has meant a lot to me,” the Duke of Sussex shared about his kids, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, in a candid interview with GQ.
“I didn’t know how important it was to me,” he added.
“I always thought it was gonna be something that I would try and do or that we would try and do, but now they’ve been in school for two weeks.”
Harry, 42, said Lilibet and Archie are “loving” their new school and have been able to gain “a whole different experience.”
“Don’t worry, I’m not criticizing American schools,” he clarified. “But I think for kids at 7 and 5 to be able to have that comparison and to have two completely different cultural experiences is so important today.”
The “Spare author also said he moved back to the UK to be “closer” to his family amid his estrangement from his father, King Charles III, and his brother, Prince William.
“But yeah, to be back closer to my family and to be back on UK soil for longer than a few days or a week here or there, you know?” Harry shared.
“So, it’s nice to be back,” he added.
Since being back across the pond, Harry said: “It’s been nice to be close to friends, family, friends and friends and their children as well … to be able to have endless playdates to really help our kids settle in.”
Harry, Markle, 45, and their children relocated to the UK in August — more than six years after the couple quit the royal family and moved to North America.
Though the Invictus Games founder is estranged from his family, Page Six exclusively reported that Harry wanted to be closer to Charles, 77, who is currently battling cancer.
Since their move, the Sussexes have been settling in.
Last week, Harry and the “Suits” actress made their first official joint appearance since returning to the UK in Nottingham.
The couple met with Hubb Community Kitchen members at the Himmah Hub food bank, visited Epic Partners and watched an acting workshop led by André Squire at the studio.
