When visitors arrive at St Andrew’s Mbalala Primary School in Nama Sub-county, Mukono District, they often struggle to distinguish the headteacher from her pupils. The reason is simple: Ms Rose Nabusimba wears the same uniform as her female learners.
The 50-year-old headteacher’s white blouse, green skirt and necktie have become her trademark, earning her recognition among pupils, parents and fellow educators. But beyond the unusual dress code, she says, the decision is intended to make children feel comfortable around her and improve their relationship with their teachers.
