Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen has spent a week in the Croatian coastal town of Makarska, where he visited with his tennis club and played regularly at a local tennis centre.
The actor, known internationally for his roles in Casino Royale, Another Round and Hannibal, was in Makarska from 7 to 13 October, spending much of his time on the courts at the Teniski centar Makarska by Lukas Sport.
Mikkelsen played tennis daily during his stay, with his wife also joining him on the court.
His visit was not simply a seaside holiday. The actor travelled with his tennis club, making the sport the main focus of his time on the Dalmatian coast.
The tennis centre shared a photograph with Mikkelsen on social media only on the final day of his visit, reflecting the importance of privacy during his stay.
“One of Hollywood’s most recognisable faces, on our tennis courts!” Lukas Sport wrote in its post, adding that it was an honour to welcome the actor to Makarska.

Located by the Adriatic Sea, Teniski centar Makarska hosts the WTA Makarska Open hosted by Valamar, a professional women’s tennis tournament on the WTA 125 circuit.
The tournament has helped raise Makarska’s profile as a destination for international tennis, combining professional competition with the town’s coastal setting.
According to the organisers, the tournament was ranked the second-best organised WTA 125 event in the world in a player vote.
The centre’s facilities and seaside location also make it an option for visitors looking to combine a holiday on the Adriatic with time on the tennis court.
Mikkelsen’s October visit also highlights Makarska’s potential beyond its traditional summer tourism season.

The town, situated beneath Mount Biokovo on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, is known for its beaches and access to outdoor activities. Tennis and other sporting pursuits offer additional reasons for visitors to travel outside the busiest summer months.
