Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has assured leaders of Igbokoda community in Ondo of its commitment to addressing their concerns over the ongoing recovery operation following the recent aircraft crash, while pledging continued support for bereaved families.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, gave the assurance through the Air Officer Commanding, Air Vice Marshal MC Ekwueme, who visited the community to engage leaders and residents over concerns about the potential impact of the recovery operation on their water source.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the visit followed a directive from the service’s high command to engage the community and address issues arising from the operation.

The statement said recovery efforts were progressing despite difficult underwater conditions and challenging terrain, with multiple pumping machines deployed to remove water around the crash site and facilitate access to the main wreckage, which remains submerged and embedded in the riverbed.
It added that the operation required sustained effort, specialised technical support and careful coordination to ensure the safety of recovery personnel and the dignity of the victims.
The NAF also acknowledged the grief of the bereaved families and reaffirmed its commitment to providing welfare support, including applicable entitlements, benevolent funds, scholarships for eligible children and other approved benefits.
“The NAF recognises that its responsibility to the affected families extends beyond the recovery operations and remains committed to providing the necessary support with compassion, dignity and a deep sense of duty,” the statement said.
The service said it had established a dedicated helpline at its headquarters to provide affected families with timely information.
It also pledged to continue engaging Igbokoda residents on their environmental concerns, sustain recovery efforts and provide verified updates as significant developments occur.
