Riyadh – The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday the interception and destruction of a drone launched by the Houthi group toward the southern region of the Kingdom.
Ministry spokesman Turki al-Maliki said in a post on the X platform: “A drone launched by the terrorist Houthi militia toward the southern region was intercepted and destroyed.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Saudi Arabia announced the interception of five drones launched toward the Kingdom, including drones in the Medina region.
Al-Maliki, who did not specify who launched the drones, later announced the interception of another drone in the Eastern Province as well.
The Iranian-backed Houthis have escalated their attacks on Saudi Arabia this month, including strikes on Riyadh airport. One such attack, on October 10, killed 13 people and injured hundreds more, marking the deadliest attack on Saudi territory in more than 10 years.
