Gluckstadt is now less than two months away from welcoming its first multimillion-dollar sports venue.
The TD Select Baseball facility appears to be opening within six weeks, with the state-of-the-art $10 million baseball and soccer complex at 589 Stout Road set to be finished by late November.
Both TD Select owner Ty Dean and commercial estate developer Lee Sahler confirmed the November timeline after installing and watering the grass at the venue’s outdoor baseball fields.
“The grass is down already and now we’re just looking to get the lights and fence up so weather permitting we should be open within six weeks,” Sahler told the Clarion Ledger.
Conceptualized as a youth development complex, TD Select Baseball will feature a 10,000-square-foot training indoor facility equipped with 10 batting cages.
The 40-acre complex also has four outdoor baseball fields and a pair of soccer pitches to facilitate youth games and travel tournaments.
“There are a lot of good organizations in the area providing for healthy competition, so what we want to provide is quality training and a lot of baseball,” Dean said.
“We want to create a good atmosphere and the kind of conditions that can help these kids realize their dreams in baseball, whatever those goals may be.”
TD Select Baseball already has 13 youth teams, ranging in age categories from 7-and-under to 14-and-under. Dean said the goal is to eventually accommodate older youth squads as well as future softball teams.
There are also plans to erect another 10,000-square-foot open air training and add four or six more multipurpose fields catering to soccer and football.
“My oldest son is 19 now but when he was 8, I realized that our kids in the area didn’t have anywhere to practice for baseball and some couldn’t even find a spot to play, so I always knew I was going to build a facility like this,” Sahler said. “We always had to drive to Brandon, Pearl, Clinton to play and even with all the great organizations around there’s such a demand for more fields and more practice areas so I was just fortunate to find this 40-acre piece in Gluckstadt.”
Atlanta-based 828 Sports Ventures agency led by NBA agent DeAngelo Simmons, previously approached Gluckstadt in 2024 with plans to build a $100 million megadome with multiple indoor fields, including baseball, football and soccer.
But that travel sports project ultimately fell through for undisclosed reasons just months after being announced.
