The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a teacher in Bungoma County for demanding Ksh300,000 to secure Teachers Service Commission (TSC) jobs for three teachers.
Documents shared with Kenyans.co.ke reveal the suspect was arrested on Monday, October 12, 2026, following preliminary investigations into complaints that she had solicited money from job seekers seeking teaching positions.
“The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a teacher in Bungoma County over allegations of soliciting and receiving bribes from unemployed teachers while claiming she could secure their employment by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC),” EACC stated.
According to EACC, the teacher allegedly demanded Ksh100,000 from each of the three job seekers, totalling Ksh300,000.

Based on evidence pieced together by EACC, it was established that the teacher allegedly received Ksh150,000 through mobile money transactions.
The commission discovered that the teacher had connections within the TSC, a vital element that facilitated the applicant's securing employment.
Following her arrest, she was processed at the EACC Western Regional Office before being booked at Bungoma Police Station as investigations continued.
This arrest adds to the growing list of fake TSC recruitments witnessed this year alone, with unsuspecting, desperate Kenyans falling into the trap.
In September, TSC flagged a fake message demanding Ksh1,000 from schools with junior secondary sections and Ksh500 from others to facilitate recruitment and promotion interviews.
In July 2026, three suspects were charged in Bomet over allegations of defrauding five people of Ksh500,000 each by promising TSC and National Police Service (NPS) jobs for relatives.
The month before, the commission also dismissed a fake poster claiming 46,000 permanent and pensionable teaching vacancies were available.
TSC has since repeatedly warned Kenyans about fake recruitment notices and individuals demanding money from job seekers promising government teaching positions, stressing reliance on proper communication channels for any vacant positions and teacher postings.
