Kenya Railways Corporation has put the public on alert over a fraudulent job advertisement that has been circulating widely on social media, cautioning job seekers not to engage with unsolicited recruitment notices that have not been verified through official channels.

The corporation issued the warning on Wednesday, October 21, through a public notice in which it categorically disowned the advertisement and urged Kenyans to exercise caution.
What did Kenya Railways say?
The fraudulent listing, titled Job Opportunity 2026, presents itself as an invitation for applications across several roles at the corporation, among them sales and marketing manager, passenger services manager, data entry clerk, driver, office assistant, and mechanical technician.
The notice lists dozens of vacancies spread across different departments, with certain positions appearing to offer more than 70 openings.
Kenya Railways made clear that the advertisement had no connection to the corporation and that no such recruitment exercise was under way.
Kenya Railways has reiterated that all legitimate employment and service-related announcements will only appear on its official website, and that any notice shared through unofficial platforms should be treated with suspicion.
"We wish to alert members of the public about a fake job advertisement doing rounds on various social media platforms," the corporation stated. "We strongly advise job seekers to be cautious and verify any job adverts through our website."
A pattern of fraud targeting Kenya Railways
The job advert warning follows a similar alert the corporation issued in July, when it cautioned passengers about fraudulent websites, social media pages, and individuals impersonating the corporation to sell counterfeit Madaraka Express passenger service tickets.
At the time, Kenya Railways said customers were being directed to make payments through unofficial channels, with some passengers reporting financial losses after attempting to book train journeys through these deceptive platforms.
The latest incident points to a sustained pattern of fraudsters exploiting the corporation's name to either solicit money or harvest personal data from unsuspecting members of the public.
