Spanish$$
Purpose-built for long lunches of both the business and pleasure varieties.
Slide into a leather-backed banquette, take in those cracking views of the Supreme Court dome and surrender to Frank Camorra’s mastery of Iberian traditions. Tapas still crackle with invention, whether it’s springy fried calamari on a crusty roll, slick with creamy aioli, or a vibrant red pepper stuffed with salt cod that hits every sweet and savoury note.
Beef cheek, slow-cooked until tender enough to collapse into a pool of rich cauliflower mash, justifies its all-time classic status. Then there’s the paella: a true showstopper of smoked prawns, calamari and capsicum, it’s a dish that demands you scrape the bottom of the giant pan to uncover a crunchy layer of socarrat.
Fluffy churros dotted with crystallised sugar are a final triumph, bettered only by a dip in molten chocolate. When a reservation and a time-tested menu are the criteria, MoVida Aqui remains a sure bet.
Good to know: On a sunny day it’s hard to beat a vermouth and some tapas on the outdoor terrace.
