The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested the executive director of Munition India Limited (MIL), a public sector defence enterprise, and two private persons in an alleged bribery case.
Besides the official, Anil Kumar, the CBI arrested his brother, B. Harshavardhan, and Ashish Kansal, the chief executive and director-promoter of SMPP Ltd.
The CBI registered the case against Mr. Kumar on Monday following allegations that he connived with private parties and demanded and accepted illegal gratification for extending official favours while being posted at MIL in Pune.
“During searches conducted on the premises of the accused public servant in Pune, ₹1.73 crore in cash was recovered. Further, searches on the premises of the accused at Mysuru, Bengaluru, and Delhi were conducted and about ₹50 lakh in cash and incriminating documents were recovered,” the CBI said.
