Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has undergone successful surgery for a fractured fibula sustained during Nigeria’s 5-0 victory over Comoros in the second leg of the 2028 Olympic qualifiers.
Ajibade confirmed the development in a post on her Instagram page on Saturday, sharing a photograph of herself in a hospital theatre after the operation.
“Surgery done. Recovery mode on,” the Paris Saint-Germain forward wrote.
She thanked those who supported her with prayers and messages, adding, “Thank you for all the love and prayers. Back soon for His greater glory.”
The footballer also quoted 1 Thessalonians 5:18, which reads, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Ajibade’s surgery follows an injury she sustained during Nigeria’s second-leg encounter with Comoros at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.
The captain was involved in a collision during the match and was stretchered off the pitch before being replaced.
The Super Falcons went on to secure a 5-0 victory, advancing their campaign in the qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic Games.
Following the incident, Ajibade had said that scans and medical consultations were ongoing, adding that further updates would be provided when available.
In a statement shared on Instagram, she said she was doing well and remained in high spirits despite the injury.
“At the moment, I am doing okay and my spirits are high,” she said.
The forward also thanked her teammates, family, technical and medical staff, and fans for their support.
“To everyone who reached out with messages, prayers and kind words, thank you from the bottom of my heart. To my teammates, family, our technical and medical staff, and our fans: I felt every bit of your love and support,” she added.
Ajibade said her immediate priority was recovery and returning to action for both club and country.
“For now, my focus is on recovery and returning stronger for club and country,” she said.
Paris Saint-Germain had earlier confirmed the fractured fibula and said the operation would be performed by one of the club’s specialist surgeons, followed by rehabilitation with its medical team.
The injury is a setback for the Super Falcons captain as she begins her recovery, with further updates on her rehabilitation and return to action awaited.
