First quarter
The Kansas City Chiefs’ offense started hot as Patrick Mahomes connected with Travis Kelce on a 41-yard post route that flipped the field and put the Chiefs at the Seattle Seahawks’ 34-yard line. Mahomes then found Jalen Royals on a drag route for another first down.
The drive would stall out, but Harrison Butker gave the Chiefs the first lead of the game with a field goal.
Sam Darnold tried to replicate what Mahomes did on the opening drive, throwing a deep ball to Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a 37-yard gain before the receiver was forced out of bounds.
The Seahawks’ drive would also stall out, giving Jason Myers a field goal attempt. The attempt was no good.
Kenneth Walker got revenge on his former team by finding the end zone for the first touchdown of the game.
End of first quarter: Chiefs 10, Seahawks 0
Second quarter
The Seahawks opened the quarter with a punt.
Mahomes found Xavier Worthy for an 18-yard gain on third down to keep the drive alive and move the ball to the Chiefs’ 41-yard line.
Walker put the Chiefs across midfield with a screen pass to the Seahawks’ 45-yard line. Kelce then picked up a third-down conversion to move the ball to the 29-yard line. On the next play, Kelce surpassed the 100-yard mark and brought the Chiefs to the 8-yard line.
Noah Gray capped off the drive with an 8-yard touchdown reception on a hard flat route into the end zone.
A.J. Barner helped the Seahawks cross midfield as the two-minute warning approached. Smith-Njigba recorded his third catch of the game and picked up a first down. Rasheed Shaheed then caught a deep crossing route in stride before being tackled at the 1-yard line.
The Chiefs’ defense stood tall with the Seahawks backed up near the end zone, holding them to a field goal and giving Mahomes 36 seconds to work with before halftime.
End of second quarter: Chiefs 17, Seahawks 3
Third quarter
The Seahawks opened the second half with a drive that reached the Chiefs’ 28-yard line before they settled for a field goal, cutting the deficit to 11 points.

Justin Watson capped off the 13-play drive with a touchdown, giving the Chiefs a commanding lead.
End of third quarter: Chiefs 24, Seahawks 6
Fourth quarter
Sam Darnold picked up a first down with his legs on fourth-and-3 to keep the Seahawks’ drive alive. Tory Horton then caught an 11-yard slant to move Seattle to the Chiefs’ 18-yard line with five minutes remaining.
On their second attempt to convert a fourth-and-3, the Seahawks tried to connect with running back Emanuel Wilson on a Texas route. However, Nick Bolton blew up the play to force a turnover on downs and help seal the Chiefs’ victory.
