MUSK AND ZELENSKYY CLASH OVER TRUMP’S RUSSIA OIL DEAL
Elon Musk backed Donald Trump’s criticism of Ukraine’s strikes on Russian oil infrastructure, writing on X: “Zelensky has gone too far.” He was responding to a White House video in which Trump said Washington had told Zelenskyy to stop hitting Russian fuel targets: “He better damn well stop.”
Zelenskyy pushed back, saying it was easier to pressure Ukraine and blame it for rising prices than to find a way to stop Putin.
“These people cannot find the key to stop Putin,” he said. “Stopping Putin is more difficult than putting pressure on others. Because it is easier to talk about prices and link them to Ukraine.”
Zelenskyy argued that current price increases are being driven by the war in the Middle East and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz—not Ukraine’s strikes on Russian oil infrastructure.
Kyiv’s point is clear: pressuring Ukraine to stop hitting Russian targets does not stop Russia’s war. The harder question is why the pressure to end it keeps landing on the country defending itself.
