Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has essentially been ruled out for the rest of the season after blood clots were discovered in his lungs.
Questions were, understandably, raised over how the Eagles let Hurts take a flight all the way to and from London and suit up in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. To that end, however, the league did not find any wrongdoing on the Eagles’ part.
As a result, the franchise will not face any punishment over its handling of Hurts’ medical issues, but after news of the league’s decision broke, NFL fans on X were stunned by the decision to steer clear of punishing Philadelphia.
Fans Incensed by Eagles Verdict After Jalen Hurts Medical Saga
One fan sarcastically blasted the league for investigating the matter.
“I’m so sure the NFL did an actual investigation on the whole situation, which is a complete joke,”the fan wrote.
Another fan was incensed by the NFL’s refusal to punish the Eagles. “This is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable,” the fan fumed.
One fan suggested a harsh penalty for the Eagles’ medical department. “That entire medical staff needs to be fired,” the fan suggested.

Another fan gave a scathing verdict after the announcement. “Corrupt league,” the fan remarked.
One fan predicted that the quarterback would sue the team. “Lawsuit coming for sure.”
An NFL statement on Tuesday also dismissed speculation that Hurts was ordered not to sleep 36 hours before the game, instead explaining that Eagles players and coaches were advised to stay awake to maintain a normal routine in a different time zone.

Last Thursday, the Eagles revealed that the superficial blood clot in Hurts’ calf had moved, leading to the quarterback being ruled out for the Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers and the NFL being notified. It was initially reported that the Eagles would not place the quarterback on injured reserve, only to reverse course and do so.
On Monday, the team revealed that further scans had revealed that the quarterback’s superficial vein thrombosis had developed into deep vein thrombosis and that the clots were in Hurts’ lungs.
The NFL revealed that its Chief Medical Officer was made aware of the quarterback’s treatment plan after the clot was first discovered in Hurts’ calf and was in communication with the Cleveland Clinic in London and the Eagles’ medical team before the game.
The quarterback’s agent, Nicole Lynn, revealed that Hurts is expected to make a full recovery and will participate in contact football once he is off blood thinners.
The NFLPA, however, pushed back against the league’s position on Tuesday, Oct. 20, saying it was unaware of any formal investigation into Hurts’ medical care. The union called for a full examination of the circumstances before determining whether Philadelphia handled the situation appropriately.
Before he was ruled out for the rest of the season, Hurts had amassed 933 passing yards on 57.8% completion, 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, adding 107 rushing yards and 1 score for the Eagles, earning a PFN QB Impact score of 69.6 (No. 22 in the NFL).
