Vusimusi “Cat” Matlala has abandoned his bail application in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court, where he faces charges relating to the alleged use of falsified documents to secure a residential lease in Waterkloof Heights, Pretoria.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) regional spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana confirmed that the matter had been postponed to October 29 for further investigations.
Matlala, 50, faces two counts of fraud, two of uttering, one of forgery and a charge of contravening the Identification Act.
The charges relate to allegations that Matlala and his three co-accused, Tsakani Matlala, 38, Claudette Masethe, 31, and Given Makofane, 46, falsified documents in January 2025 to secure a lease agreement for a property in Waterkloof Heights through a real estate agent.
Mahanjana said the three co-accused had previously been released on bail.
Matlala is further accused of unlawfully possessing an identity document issued in the name of Vusumuzi Dlamini between January 13 and 21, 2025.
The document allegedly purported to associate him with the Eswatini Royal House and was allegedly used to obtain the lease, said Mahanjana.
