L&C Bio, a company specializing in human tissue-based regenerative medicine, has secured entry into the United Arab Emirates (UAE) market, establishing a foothold for its expansion into the Middle East. Having already expanded into Asia, South America and North America, the company is accelerating its push into the global regenerative medicine market by extending its export reach to the Middle East.
L&C Bio announced on Oct. 14 that its human tissue-based extracellular matrix (ECM) product, Re2O, had received import approval from the UAE’s Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE). The approval marks another milestone following the company’s formal regulatory approvals in Thailand and Peru, as well as a large-scale exclusive supply agreement with a U.S. partner.
The company’s decision to position the UAE as its hub for Middle East operations is underpinned by the country’s well-developed medical tourism industry. According to statistics from the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), more than 691,000 international medical tourists visited Dubai in 2025, with dermatology consultations accounting for 27% of cases, reflecting strong demand in the sector.
L&C Bio plans to establish a network of medical professionals through collaboration with local medical device companies and expand its sales base. Re2O is produced by processing human acellular dermal matrix (hADM), derived from donated human skin with its cellular components removed, into fine particles. The product is characterized by its use of the structural properties of skin tissue.
In response to surging overseas demand, the company also plans to significantly expand its production capacity. It aims to increase Re2O’s current monthly production capacity of approximately 80,000 units to more than 150,000 units by the end of this year, nearly doubling output. Over the medium to long term, the company plans to establish a stable supply system through the construction of a new factory in Dongtan.
Earlier, on Oct. 12, L&C Bio signed an exclusive supply agreement worth 82 billion won (approximately $60.74 million) for its Re2O series with a U.S.-based human tissue company and tissue bank. Under the agreement, which runs through 2031, the company will begin supplying substantial volumes to the U.S. market in 2027. It has also left open the possibility of expanding its business structure through measures such as acquiring a local tissue bank, depending on future market conditions.
However, for overseas regulatory approvals to translate into actual revenue growth, adoption by local medical professionals and the establishment of a stable distribution network will be essential. The company has designated the remainder of this year as a pre-launch marketing period for its entry into the U.S. market and plans to focus on training local medical professionals and conducting academic activities.
“With the UAE import approval secured, we have established the foundation for our entry into the Middle East market,” an L&C Bio representative said. “We will strengthen exchanges with local partners and medical professionals to build a stable supply system and pursue further expansion of our global exports.”
