BUSAN — The Busan Metropolitan Government and the Busan Festival Organizing Committee received 200 million won from BNK Busan Bank on the 20th to support the development of local festivals, the city said.
The funds will go toward staging festivals organized by the committee and strengthening their competitiveness, including the Busan Milmyeon Festival (a noodle dish festival), the Busan Sea Festival, the Busan International Rock Festival and the Busan Fireworks Festival.
Busan Bank has sponsored local festivals since 2006, with cumulative support reaching 6.065 billion won as of last year.
Beyond festival sponsorship, the bank runs a range of social contribution programs, including assistance for vulnerable groups, scholarships, financial education and support for culture, the arts and sports.
The city said it plans to continue working with partners so that local festivals can grow into competitive tourism content.
