Sophie Cunningham hints at her future with Caitlin Clark and the Fever in her latest post "I'm not going away"

The 30th WNBA season is rapidly approaching its climax, with the WNBA Finals tipping off this Saturday, October 17, as the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries face off in pursuit of their first championship.

For the Valkyries, reaching the title round in just their second year of existence represents a historic achievement, while the Dream enter their fourth finals appearance in franchise history.

Following a series of agreements between the league, local officials, and the Atlanta Hawks, Games 3 and 4 will officially take place at State Farm Arena, averting what would have been a glaring venue disparity between Golden State's 18,000-seat Chase Center and Atlanta's secondary 3,500-capacity home floor.

However, as those two finalists prepare for the postseason curtain-call, the remaining 13 teams have shifted entirely into offseason mode.

Among them, the Indiana Fever face mounting roster questions surrounding star guard Kelsey Mitchell alongside fan favorite Sophie Cunningham, who has grown into one of the league's most recognizable and talked-about figures alongside superstar teammate Caitlin Clark.

Sophie Cunningham Sparks Free Agency Speculation

Earlier this month, Indiana Fever general manager Amber Cox was direct, offering an emphatic "No" when asked whether Cunningham’s high-profile, off-court visibility and controversial public profile would dictate how the front office approaches her free agency.

Nevertheless, as the veteran guard approaches the open market this winter following two seasons in Indianapolis, the most recent on a one-year deal playing primarily off the bench, she dropped a subtle hint about her future on TikTok.

Clad in her Indiana Fever jersey, Cunningham posted a video dancing and lip-syncing to Rihanna and T.I.'s 2008 hit track "Live Your Life," emphatically mouthing the lines: "Got my mind on my money / and I'm not going away / So keep on getting your paper."

Given the intense spotlight surrounding her upcoming contract situation, many fans interpreted the post as a clear signal that she intends to return for another run in Indiana, though it remains equally plausible that the content was simply another lighthearted post for her social media audience.

Evaluating Cunningham’s On-Court Production and Indiana’s Offseason Priorities

On the court, Cunningham continued to serve as a reliable floor-spacing option off the bench throughout the 2026 campaign. Across 43 regular-season games, she logged 22.2 minutes per contest while averaging 7.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists, connecting on 46.0 percent of her field goals and 41.9 percent of her three-point attempts.

Cunningham’s situation represents just one piece of a complex offseason puzzle for Indiana, topped by securing Kelsey Mitchell, who delivered an MVP-caliber campaign by averaging 24.7 points and setting a WNBA single-season record with 1,086 points across 44 games.

The front office has ample time to construct the ideal championship-caliber roster around Caitlin Clark as she enters her fourth year.
