Formlabs has introduced Nylon 11 Pro Powder for the Fuse 1+ 30W selective laser sintering (SLS) printer and announced plans to make it available for the Fuse X1 in the first quarter of 2027. The material is intended for functional prototypes and end-use parts that require flexibility, impact resistance and durability.
Nylon 11 Pro Powder is designed for parts that bend, absorb impact and withstand repeated use. It uses the same 30% refresh rate as Nylon 12 and is designed to provide consistent print performance. Applications include impact-resistant prototypes, end-use parts, jigs and fixtures, snap fits, clips, living hinges, thin-walled ducts and enclosures, orthotics, prosthetics and wearable devices.
According to Formlabs, Nylon 11 Pro Powder provides approximately five times the elongation at break and twice the notched Izod impact strength of Nylon 12. Its elongation and isotropic performance are intended to support predictable part behavior across print orientations.
The material is also designed to retain thin walls, snap fits, living hinges and other fine features during media blasting and tumbling. This can support the production of parts with detailed geometries while reducing post-processing work.
Nylon 11 Pro Powder requires nitrogen and a textured roller during printing. The roller’s bead-blasted surface is designed to reduce powder curling during the build. The Fuse X1 includes the roller as part of its design. Formlabs will provide current Fuse 1+ 30W users with a Fuse 1 Generation Recoater Roller V2 and installation instructions with an order of Nylon 11 Pro Powder.
