+ The job must be done
Let’s be clear. The Swedish team had a blast on Friday, beating Lithuania 5-0 away in the first leg of the World Cup qualifying playoffs. Felicia Schröder scored three of Sweden’s goals, with substitutes Stina Blackstenius and Amanda Ilestedt scoring the others. There is absolutely nothing to suggest the match will be any different when the teams meet again in Solna on Tuesday evening, but the job still has to be done.
If Sweden advances to a decisive World Cup playoff, either Scotland or the Czech Republic will be waiting. Scotland impressed, winning the first leg 2-0 in Pardubice.
+ Fearless Felicia Schröder
The goals finally came, and at an important stage. Felicia Schröder’s hat-trick has given Sweden, barring a Lithuanian miracle in Solna, a place in the playoff final later this year. Now it’s time to build on that. The home match against Lithuania is an excellent chance for Schröder to continue the fine goal-scoring form she has carried over from Real Madrid to the Swedish national team.
+ How many changes does Tony Gustavsson dare to make?
With a 5-0 lead, national team coach Tony Gustavsson can afford to test a few players in the starting lineup. The question is how many changes he wants - or dares - to make. Smilla Holmberg was a question mark but started on Friday and was substituted in the second half. Will the right-back start again? Stina Blackstenius was left out of the attack, with Evelyn Ijeh starting alongside Schröder instead. Who will Gustavsson trust this time?
