LG has begun rolling out a software update for its Sound Suite home theater system that adds DTS:X and Google Cast to the H7 soundbar, enables setups with two W7 subwoofers, and extends speaker connectivity to Wi-Fi 6 GHz networks and 5 GHz DFS channels.
LG Electronics has started rolling out a software update for its Sound Suite home theater system, adding DTS:X decoding and Google Cast streaming to the H7 soundbar. The update, announced from Seoul on 14 October, also enables dual subwoofer configurations and widens Wi-Fi compatibility across the modular speaker range.
Before the update, the H7 did not support DTS:X, the object-based surround format used on many Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD releases. LG said it added the format in response to feedback from enthusiasts who wanted broader immersive audio compatibility. Playback requires compatible content and source devices. Google Cast support on the H7 allows users to stream music, podcasts, and other content directly to Sound Suite from Cast-enabled apps on phones, tablets, and computers.
Sound Suite previously supported one W7 subwoofer per system. Owners can now connect two in compatible configurations. LG said the second unit is intended less for extra output than for placement flexibility, helping to even out bass response across multiple seating positions in larger rooms. The W7 retails for $600 in the US.
The wireless speakers can also now operate on Wi-Fi 6 GHz networks and on 5 GHz DFS channels. Dynamic Frequency Selection channels are parts of the 5 GHz band shared with radar systems, and routers using them must move to another channel when radar is detected. LG said the change makes stereo and multi-speaker configurations available to more households whose routers use these bands.
LG also confirmed it is developing the LG Media Connect Hub, a product designed to deliver DTS:X playback from compatible external source devices. The company has not disclosed pricing, a release date, or a list of supported devices and said further details would be shared through official channels. Engadget, which covered the announcement, suggested the hub could offer a path for disc players and similar sources, although LG has not confirmed this.
LG says the new features come through software updates, and availability, timing, and supported features vary by model, country, router compatibility, and software version. The update has already reached owners in some regions.
LG unveiled Sound Suite at CES 2026, describing it as the first soundbar system built on Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. The technology detects where each speaker is placed in a room and adjusts its output accordingly, so speakers do not need to sit in fixed positions. Compatible 2025 and 2026 LG premium TVs can also act as the FlexConnect hub without a soundbar.
The lineup includes the H7 soundbar at $1,000, the M7 and M5 wireless speakers at $400 and $250, respectively, and the W7 subwoofer. The H7 runs on the Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen 3 used in LG’s flagship OLED TVs. A full system pairing the H7 with four M7 speakers and a W7 reaches 13.1.7 channels. Sound Suite also includes Sound Follow, which uses ultra-wideband technology to locate the listener and adjust the sound field, and Room Calibration Pro for automatic room tuning.

I’ve been obsessed with tech for as long as I can remember, so much so that I’ve become the unofficial "tech support" for my entire family. Whether it’s fixing gadgets, explaining specs, or recommending the best buys, I love breaking down tech for everyday people. That passion led me to writing about tech. When I’m not testing gadgets or writing reviews, you’ll probably find me hiking or doom-scrolling car listings (still hunting for my first ride, wish me luck, lol).
