DJ and media personality Cyan Boujee has announced that she is stepping away from social media for a while, saying she is disappointed that a recent situation brought out a side of herself she has been working to outgrow.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, October 20, Cyan reflected on her personal growth following days of online drama involving amapiano singer MaWhoo and fashion designer Sihle the Designer.
“I’ve worked incredibly hard on myself as a person, and I’m disappointed that I allowed one situation to bring out a version of myself I’ve been trying to outgrow,” she wrote.
Cyan went on to explain that she was choosing to take a step back from social media to reflect and focus on what matters most to her.
“I’m choosing to step away from social media for a little while to reflect, grow and focus on the things that truly matter to me. This chapter of my life is incredibly important to me, and I owe it to myself to protect my peace and continue becoming the woman I’ve worked so hard to be.”
Her announcement comes after she found herself at the centre of two separate controversies that sparked widespread discussion online.
Cyan Boujee's drama with MaWhoo
Cyan and MaWhoo were recently alleged to have exchanged subtle jabs at each other through their Instagram Stories amid speculation about a man they are reportedly both involved with.
The situation escalated when Cyan allegedly went live on social media to address the claims, saying the man was still calling her and accusing him of cheating. She also reportedly warned that she was not afraid of MaWhoo.
The alleged love triangle fuelled speculation among social media users, with the two entertainers' online activity attracting considerable attention.
However, claims surrounding the alleged relationship remain unconfirmed.
Sihle the Designer dispute sparks controversy
The MaWhoo drama followed a separate public dispute between Cyan and fashion designer Sihle Masango, popularly known as Sihle the Designer.
What began as a disagreement over a custom-made outfit soon escalated into a broader debate about professionalism, client confidentiality and the DJ's private life.
Cyan reportedly accused the designer of blocking her and failing to refund her for an outfit she had paid for. Sihle, in turn, shared screenshots of their alleged WhatsApp exchanges, claiming the outfit had been made but had not been collected.
The messages also fuelled renewed speculation about Cyan's private life, prompting further discussion online and raising questions about the sharing of private conversations between a designer and a client.
The controversy added to the scrutiny surrounding the DJ, whose personal life has frequently become a subject of public debate.
This is not Cyan Boujee's first social media break
Cyan's latest announcement is not the first time she has stepped away from social media.
In April 2026, the influencer, whose real name is Honour Zuma, deactivated her Instagram and TikTok accounts, leaving fans wondering why she had suddenly gone quiet.
Her disappearance came shortly after she showed off her newly acquired mansion, which was widely reported to be worth between R9 million and R10 million.
Her absence fuelled speculation about her personal life, including rumours about marriage, relationships and who might have financed her luxurious lifestyle.
Cyan subsequently pushed back against some of the speculation, saying she had deactivated her accounts for personal reasons. She also expressed frustration about being linked to men she said she did not know.
After roughly three months away, she returned to Instagram in July, sharing photographs of herself and glimpses of her lifestyle.
Her latest decision to take a break comes as she reflects on her personal growth and the impact of recent events.
