The launch of the Samsung Galaxy A58 5G is drawing closer, and a reliable source has now revealed the key camera specs. There is bad news, however, as Samsung is reportedly once again forgoing a telephoto camera, opting instead for a seven-year-old macro camera.

The Samsung Galaxy A57 5G ($565 on Amazon) launched in April 2026, so its successor is not expected to launch until spring 2027. GalaxyClub has now already obtained details about the cameras of the next-generation mid-range smartphone. There is bad news, as none of the four cameras is expected to receive a significant upgrade.
Samsung is reportedly sticking with a 12-megapixel selfie camera, a 50 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide camera and a 5 MP macro camera. The latter was introduced with the Galaxy A51 in 2020, making it seven years old by the time the Galaxy A58 launches. A low-resolution macro camera will not be particularly useful in 2027 either, and the mid-range smartphone still lacks a telephoto camera. It remains unclear whether any of the cameras will receive a newer or larger sensor.
For context: The Galaxy A57 features a main camera with a 50 MP 1/1.56-inch sensor, an ultra-wide camera with a tiny 12 MP 1/3.06-inch sensor, and a selfie camera with an even smaller 12 MP 1/3.2-inch sensor. With this hardware, the Galaxy A57 failed to truly impress in our in-depth review – while the cameras deliver decent image quality, the results are hardly outstanding considering the now relatively high price of the mid-range series. Given the DRAM crisis, however, it is not surprising that Samsung is taking cost-cutting measures and forgoing camera upgrades on the Galaxy A58.
