The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has expressed confidence in its chances of winning the 2027 general elections following renewed reconciliation efforts among party leaders and stakeholders.
The party said on Tuesday that the electoral victory of its candidates was certain, as indications emerged that efforts by its leadership to resolve internal disagreements had begun to yield positive results.
This was contained in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, in Ibadan, the state capital.
Sadare said, “Our eyes have been on the ball as our main goal is about winning, at least, a million votes for President Tinubu in the January poll and also making sure that all the candidates of APC are returned elected in the 2027 general elections.
“What political watchers described as icing on the cake of reconciliation was experienced on Monday when former Senate Leader and the governorship candidate of the APC in the 2023 poll, Senator Teslim Folarin, broke his silence and directed his supporters to join him in working with other stakeholders to deliver Oyo to the APC in 2027.
“Fortunately, our chances just got better with the attainment of a high level of success in our desire to bring about total unity and peace to the progressive family in the Pacesetters State.”
The party attributed the progress in its reconciliation efforts to the commitment and leadership of President Bola Tinubu, saying he had helped resolve disagreements among party stakeholders.
It said, “President Bola Tinubu,” who, according to APC, “has again brought his unique leadership competence, character and experience to bear in calming all the frayed nerves in our great Party.
“Having acknowledged the inevitability of post-primary crisis, we moved ahead of time to float different committees of notable stakeholders and credible persons to drive our reconciliation campaign, and we were able to get the desired results.
“But the best results were achieved through the intervention of our national leader, President Tinubu, who has been able to wade in and convince some aggrieved gladiators of the need to bury the hatchet and work for APC success at the polls.
“With the likes of Senator Folarin, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari and Chief Adebayo Adelabu fully on board, we are good to go as our total victory is assured this time.
“Nevertheless, we are not going to rest on our laurels in our quest to have everyone on board. The reconciliation efforts shall continue even as our candidates continue to engage the electorate and sell the Renewed Hope Agenda as well as the Oyo AHEAD Project of Senator Sharafadeen Alli to the citizenry,” Sadare concluded.
PUNCH Online reports that Folarin publicly declared his support for the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, on Monday at a gathering shortly after returning to Ibadan from an overseas trip.
