Phil Foden has shown signs of his best form to begin the new season for Manchester City. In six appearances in all competitions, Foden has contributed two assists and there are signs that he is regaining his touch and confidence. Unfortunately, Foden was sent off for kicking out at Bruno Fernandes in Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Manchester United in September. Foden was subsequently suspended for three matches after his red card. Adding in the extended international break that occurred during Foden’s suspension, he hasn’t played for a considerable length of time. Hopefully, Phil Foden can return to the pitch against Ipswich Town today and make an impact.

Enzo Maresca is backing Phil Foden to return with a bang now that his three-game ban has been served.
Manchester City manager made a light-hearted proclamation when asked about Phil Foden during his pre-match press conference yesterday. Maresca stated that Foden will score against Gary O’Neil’s side today at the Etihad Stadium. Maresca quipped when talking about Foden: “He will score tomorrow!”
Enzo Maresca went on to explain that what Foden has missed a significant amount of time due to the three-game suspension he received and when it occurred. However the Manchester City favourite had been training well and decision was yet to be made on if Foden would start against Ipswich Town. Maresca explained: “We just try to work with him day by day.”
“The international break and since the red card against United has been quite long.”
“But he has been training well, he’s doing well since we start [made a] very positive start, very good.”
“We will see if he is available tomorrow, but we have so many games. We need to decide if he starts tomorrow or not and if he does, no doubt he will give us something.”

Manchester City need Foden back and up to speed as soon as possible and hopefully that occurs today.
It is good news for Manchester City to have Phil Foden back available for selection. Enzo Maresca’s side needs the England international back on the pitch and firing to add another dangerous option to their squad. Foden is a match-winner when fit and City need that in their ranks. Also, with Manchester City facing a congested fixture list, they need Foden back to provide cover and competition for Rayan Cherki and others.
Hopefully, Foden can return to the Manchester City starting lineup today against Ipswich Town. The sooner Foden is back on the pitch, the better it will be for Enzo Maresca’s side. Playing at home in front of the City support should provide Foden with a boost. Assuming that he starts today’s match. Ipswich Town will be no pushovers today and Foden could break open today’s game if he does play from the start this afternoon.
Enzo Maresca has full faith in Phil Foden. Foden was an unused substitute in Manchester City’s 4-2 loss to PSG. However, Foden has been training well so his return to the pitch should occur sooner rather than later. Today may be the ideal setting for Foden to return to the City starting eleven and if he does hopefully he can hit the ground running.
