Through Akoya's Open Finance Solution (OFS), more data aggregators and third-party providers will be able to connect to TD through secure APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), reducing reliance on credential-based data access and supporting more secure financial data-sharing experiences.
Key Points
- TD Bank U.S. and Akoya are working together to help more financial apps and data providers connect to TD through secure APIs, reducing the need for consumers to share their bank login credentials with third parties.
- TD clients choose which apps can access their financial information, see who has access and turn it off when they choose.
- Akoya’s Open Finance Solution will give third-party providers a consistent way to connect to TD, supporting more secure, easier-to-manage connections and helping clients use the financial tools that meet their needs.
As digital financial tools become increasingly integrated into everyday life, consumers expect greater flexibility in how they access financial services — and greater control over how their information is shared.
“Clients expect us to provide solutions designed to protect their data, while giving them the flexibility to use the digital tools and services that best meet their needs,” said Jo Jagadish, Head of U.S. Digital Banking, Payments & Consumer Deposits at TD. “Our relationship with Akoya helps us deliver both, offering clients a choice in how they connect their financial data while building the foundation for the innovative financial experiences of tomorrow.”
The arrangement advances TD’s broader strategy to modernize how clients engage with their finances. By continuing to invest in more secure, API-based connectivity, TD is creating more seamless digital experiences while reinforcing the security, privacy and trust at the core of TD’s client relationships.
“Consumers should be able to share their financial information with the apps they choose, see who has access and turn it off anytime,” said Paul LaRusso, CEO of Akoya. “Our engagement with TD puts that control in its clients' hands so they can confidently use the tools that help them make better financial decisions. Every consumer deserves that. It's the model more banks are adopting and TD is helping lead the way.”
The OFS will offer third-party providers a clear, consistent place to learn about available TD APIs, register applications and take the steps required to establish secure connections. Together, Akoya’s solution will make connecting to TD simpler and easier to manage, and the platform will continue to add new capabilities as client needs evolve.
Beyond the commercial relationship, TD has been an investor in Akoya since 2020, and Jagadish joined Akoya's Board of Directors in 2025, bringing TD's customer and banking perspectives to the continued evolution of open finance.
Permission-based data sharing through APIs is becoming increasingly important as consumers turn to fintech applications and digital platforms to manage more of their financial lives. As these experiences become more interconnected, consumers expect financial institutions to provide seamless, security-forward ways to connect the services they use.
TD and Akoya will bring apps and data aggregators onto the platform in phases, beginning in the fourth quarter of 2026.
