A BUS driver appeared to misjudge the height clearance at Jambatan Persiaran Tropicana, leaving the vehicle stuck beneath a bridge in an incident that has since gone viral on social media.
The incident was captured in a video circulating on Threads, uploaded by user @kaitokidsoleh, showing the bus wedged beneath the bridge after apparently attempting to pass through a section with a height restriction.
The footage quickly attracted attention from netizens, with some pointing out the irony of the bus reportedly bearing the name “Confidence”.
One commenter, @zofran, joked: “Bas driver confident lepas last2 x lepas ahaha irony betul nama bas,” suggesting that the driver was confident the bus would fit, only to discover otherwise.
Others claimed that the location was known for similar incidents involving oversized vehicles. User @slcrara_ commented that large vehicles frequently get stuck at the spot, while @zulazlan.rasdi explained that the approach from one direction reportedly has no height barrier because buses can turn left before reaching the tunnel.
The opposite direction, meanwhile, previously had a height barrier, but it was allegedly struck repeatedly by lorries.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the importance of checking vehicle height restrictions before approaching low-clearance bridges and tunnels.
Drivers of buses and heavy vehicles are reminded to follow designated routes and pay attention to clearance signs to avoid becoming stuck, potentially disrupting traffic and creating safety risks.
