It will be the Spanish chain’s third store in the Algarve, following its opening in Portimão on 15 October and the planned opening in Faro on 12 November.
The vacancies are for supermarket operators, with full-time and part-time schedules available. For a 40-hour week, starting gross annual pay is €15,293, rising to €20,915.
The 20-hour roles start at €7,646 a year and can reach €10,457, while weekend-only jobs of 15 hours a week start at €5,734 and can rise to €7,843. Meal, Sunday and public holiday allowances are paid on top.
Paid training
Postal reports that successful applicants will receive a permanent contract from their first day.
Mercadona also offers paid training, with the company covering accommodation, meals and transport, and says work schedules will be provided a month in advance.
Staff can receive up to 29 days of annual leave. The company also offers a yearly performance bonus: after completing their first full calendar year, employees may receive the equivalent of an extra month’s salary.
This can rise to two extra months’ salary after four years with the company.
Postal says Mercadona has more than 75 stores and around 7,500 employees in Portugal.
The Olhão vacancies are listed through the company’s recruitment website.
