Residents of Seoul's Seodaemun-gu can dispose of raw vegetable waste from kimjang, the annual making of kimchi, in standard pay-as-you-throw garbage bags from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31.
Raw vegetable scraps such as cabbage and radish, before being seasoned or salted, can be placed in 20-liter or 50-liter standard garbage bags and set out with a designated sticker attached.
The stickers are available free of charge at community service centers or can be downloaded and printed from the district office website.
Vegetables that have been seasoned or salted, as well as kimjang waste that is wet, must still be discarded through the existing food waste disposal system.
Bags carrying the designated sticker must contain only kimjang waste. Mixing in ordinary household trash may result in a fine.
