ULSAN — HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (329180) is publishing a commemorative stamp album marking the first anniversary of its merged launch, tracing more than half a century of growth in Korea's shipbuilding industry and featuring the company's signature vessels.
The company said on the 19th that the album, titled "Stronger Shipbuilding, Wider Future" and produced jointly with the East Ulsan Post Office, will be officially released on Dec. 1. Preorders will be accepted from Oct. 21 through Nov. 13, ahead of the official release.
The album was planned to commemorate the first anniversary of the merged HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and to highlight the company's growth and major achievements.
The eight-page album contains 34 commemorative stamps in total — 20 covering the company's key history and accomplishments, and 14 devoted to its representative ships. By gathering in a single volume the records and moments that drove the growth of Korea's shipbuilding industry, the company said it has enhanced the album's value as a collector's item.
The album is priced at 35,000 won. Preorders can be placed through the East Ulsan Post Office website, a QR code on promotional posters, or by telephone. Preordered copies will be shipped in stages beginning Nov. 24, and buyers may also pick them up in person at the East Ulsan Post Office.
Starting Dec. 1, the album's official release date, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to hold a three-day stamp exhibition at the HD Art Center in Ulsan's Dong District to share the company's growth story with the local community.
"This album is a record of the challenges, achievements and future vision of a company that has led Korea's shipbuilding industry," an official at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries said. "Because we are running a preorder sale so that the general public can own a copy as well, we hope it becomes an occasion to share the company's history with many people."
