New Delhi: Iranian Parliament Speaker and top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf will visit India for the two-day BRICS Parliamentary Forum beginning October 26. His visit assumes significance as he is the key negotiator from the Iranian side for the conflict with Israel and the US and on issues concerning the Strait of Hormuz.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday addressed a press conference on the forum and shared its details. On the 20 rebel Trinamool Congress MPs, who have joined the NCPI, Birla said, "When the responses come from the members, we will expedite the process after hearing both sides". On a possible fresh impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Birla said any such notice would be examined under the rules and procedures.
On reports of a special Parliament session, a top official said that if Parliament is prorogued, a minimum of 14 days' notice is needed to call the session. But if a session is not prorogued, an extended sitting can be called in two days.
