ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified the procedure for obtaining a child’s B-Form, also known as the Child Registration Certificate (CRC), when the mother’s Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) is unavailable.
In a statement shared through a NADRA podcast, Public Information Officer Syed Shabahat Ali explained that the procedure depends on whether the mother’s CNIC has been issued but is currently unavailable or has never been issued.
If the mother’s CNIC has already been issued but she does not have the card at the time of NADRA centre visit, the absence of the physical document may not pose a major problem. According to NADRA, her identity can be verified through her CNIC number or biometric verification, including fingerprints.
However, if the mother has never been issued a CNIC, obtaining the child’s B-Form may become more difficult because the relevant family records and supporting documents must be complete to obtain the B-Form.
NADRA officials explained that in such cases, the parents’ marriage may not have been registered in the official record, and a family number may not have been issued. These gaps in the family record can create difficulties in processing the child’s registration.
Parents facing this situation may need to resolve the missing identity or family registration records before proceeding with the child’s B-Form application.
How to Apply for a Replacement B-Form
Separately, NADRA has outlined the procedure for obtaining a replacement B-Form if a child’s existing document has been lost.
