Chinese brand Lepas has announced its first model in Australia, the five-seat Lepas L6 BEV Signature mid-size electric SUV, will cost $47,990 before on-road costs.
Order books are now open ahead of first customer deliveries in November 2026, with the price including premium paint as part of an introductory offer, a saving of $800 – with Black a ‘pre-sale’ exclusive no-cost option.
The L6 BEV Signature, the single model grade announced, includes ‘BEV’ (battery-electric vehicle) in its official name as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version, expected to cost less, is scheduled to arrive in Australian showrooms in 2027.
Lepas, a brand of Chery, is pitched as a more upmarket brand and will be sold at both Chery dealers and standalone sites, and aims to have 40 open by the end of 2026.

The two-row L6 is one of five model lines officially planned for Australia, with the smaller L4 BEV SUV planned to arrive in December 2026, as well as larger L8 and L9 SUVs in 2027 and 2028, and the L2 hatchback in 2028.
The L6 BEV’s $47,990 before on-roads price is more than the similarly sized BYD Atto 3 Evo and Geely EX5 electric SUVs, which both start at $41,990 before on-road costs.
Other electric SUVs around the same price as the L6 BEV include the MG S5 EV Essence 62 at $47,990 drive-away and the Skoda Elroq 60 Select at an identical $47,990 before on-roads.
Key Australian specifications have been confirmed for the L6 BEV, which measures 4570mm long, 1852mm wide and 1694mm tall, with a 2700mm wheelbase.

The L6 BEV is based on the LEX platform, which the automaker said has been specifically created for Lepas and is not shared with Chery or its other sub-brands, such as Omoda Jaecoo, iCaur or Jetour.
The single-motor powertrain sends 160kW/275Nm peak outputs through the front wheels, with a 65kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery offering a claimed 440km range (WLTP) on a single charge.
Fast-charging capability of up to 120kW brings a 30–80 per cent charge in around 22 minutes.
The same powertrain is used in the L6 BEV sold in the United Kingdom, which has a claimed 0–100km/h time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 179km/h.

Standard equipment includes 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED headlights with intelligent beam assist, and electric mirrors with puddle lights.
In addition to the pre-sale Black, the L6 BEV comes in Purple, Orange or Grey – all premium colours – with White as the standard non-premium exterior.
Beige is the only interior colour offered on Australian models, regardless of the exterior colour, with synthetic leather seats including a 10-way power-adjustable, heated and ventilated driver’s seat and a six-way power-adjustable, heated and ventilated front passenger seat.
The driver looks at an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster, while the cabin also includes a 13.2-inch portrait-oriented centre touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

There’s also a 50W wireless phone charger, eight-speaker Sony audio system and panoramic sunroof with slide and tilt functions and a powered sunshade.
The L6 BEV offers 323L of boot space, expandable to 1255L with the second-row seats folded, with a power tailgate standard. Two underfloor storage compartments offer 36L and 63L respectively for an additional 99L of space.
Safety and driver-assist tech includes seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, speed sign detection, automatic parking assist and a surround-view camera.
Lepas will offer a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, including seven years of roadside assistance and seven years of capped-price servicing, although those costs have not yet been disclosed.
The L6 BEV’s high-voltage battery comes with an eight-year, 200,000km warranty.
