Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have Jay-Z to thank for giving them some parental clout with their kids.
The showbiz power couple have children Michael, 29, Lola, 25, and Joaquin, 23, together, but Kelly insisted the pair are "not cool", according to their offspring.
However, they recently revealed to their children that they appeared in Jay-Z's Change Clothes music video alongside Pharrell Williams in 2003, which led to the 56-year-old rapper greeting Mark in public.
Mark joked his youngest son Joaquin always prefers to be "eight feet away" from him and said he was "embarrassed of his dad" when they headed into a New York Knicks championship basketball game last year.
However, Mark gained some kudos with his kid when 99 Problems rapper Jay greeted him.
Speaking on Live with Kelly and Mark, he explained: "He turns around, and he sees me, and he goes, 'Hey, man!'
"He gives me a hug and a handshake, and then I look back at Joaquin."
Kelly admitted Joaquin woke her up just to tell her about the surprising moment.
She explained: "They come home from the game. I'm asleep, the door bursts open, Joaquin flies in. 'Did you know Dad knows Jay-Z?!'
"I go, 'I told you we were in a Jay-Z video.'
"He goes, 'I thought you were lying.'
"The internet exists, guys. Google."
Mark revealed the pair told their children about the music video when they were in front of their pals.
He said: "We never dropped it on them that we were in a Jay-Z video.
"We did it in front of their friends."
However, their kids might not be so pleased to hear Kelly recently revealed to the world that she hosted Live with Kelly and Mark "without pants on" during the pandemic.
She said on a recent episode of the show: "Some of us have been homebodies all of our lives."
The TV presenter then shared a surprising confession.
She explained: "I loved doing the show without pants on.
"Guess what? While you were watching the show and we were shooting from a computer screen, I had a blouse on top and nothing on the bottom."
Kelly also revealed that she was eating cereal during the TV show's commercial breaks.
She said: "We would go to commercial break and I would be Grape-Nutting it, and then, back to air. It was great!"
