The New England Patriots have been without superstar cornerback Christian Gonzalez since he suffered a shoulder injury during a Week 3 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
On Wednesday, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said Gonzalez will “try to do some stuff today. We’ll see how that goes."
However, Gonzalez himself provided an even more encouraging update on his status.
When asked how he's feeling this week, Gonzalez said he's "ready to go" for this coming Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the division-rival New York Jets.
The Patriots have won each of their last two games despite Gonzalez's absence, notching wins over the Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders. Now, the team gets its best defensive player back on the field as they look to continue this win streak.
Gonzalez signed a four-year, $135 million contract extension with the Patriots before the start of the 2026 season, making him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history. He recorded five passes defended and eight tackles before suffering his injury in Week 3.
