Emmerdale is turning into a blood bath.
Vinny (Bradley Johnson) killing two people, Kim Tate (Claire King) stabbing her daughter. And now Mary (Louise Jameson) found dead on the floor of the vets?! Whoa there Emmerdale gods, where does it stop?
Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) is back in the village after a night away with Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) and as he steps out of the car, he’s immediately walloped by accusations of cheating by jealous Chas (Lucy Pargeter).
A fair assumption, Manpreet has been making her way around the village, but then Claudette (Flo Wilson) steps out of the car too. One would hope such a god-fearing woman would not take part in those kinds of shenanigans. Liam’s not into that kind of thing either.
What he’s also not into is taking Chas along to his murder mystery nights, and this hurts more than the thought of Liam having a threesome with Manpreet and the vicar’s mum.
Chas is furious and Marlon (Mark Charnock) goes to check on her when he sees she’s upset. He gently suggests she prove Liam’s assumptions about her to be wrong.
The next day, something terrible happens – Paddy (Dominic Brunt) finds a ‘body’ in a terrifying turn of events at the vets. Liam and Chas find their pal in a right old state and Paddy leads Liam to Mary – ‘dead’ on the floor, knife in the back.
Horror hits the Dales, only it’s not real, thank goodness. Granny Mary is spared. She is part of an organised murder mystery game, arranged by Chas in a bid to prove to her fiancé that she likes murder mysteries too. Liam’s touched by the effort, but he quickly loses enthusiasm for the game she created, much to Chas’ disappointment.
As Liam tries to muster the interest to decipher a clue, a man called Dave knocks at the door. He assumes it’s part of Chas’ game and willingly lets the dodgy guy tie him up. Dave seems to be looking for Dylan (Fred Kettle), and Liam completely misreads the situation.
Dylan walks in and freezes on sight of Dave. Dave reveals the reason for his impromptu visit – Dylan ratted on him to the police, and Liam’s handed himself over to the madman.
Marlon and Chas arrive and unwittingly walk in on the scene, but Dave is quick to react and knocks Marlon out before the maniac pulls a gun. He kidnaps Chas and does a flit. Has Liam’s Grade A pillock approach to the situation endangered the love of his life?
