The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinedu Ogah, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to support Governor Francis Nwifuru in completing the proposed cement factory at Nkalagu, Ishielu local government area of Ebonyi state.
Ogah said the factory would create jobs for youth, attract investors, boost economic activities and reduce the cost of building materials in the state.
The lawmaker, who is the Ebonyi state coordinator of the Tinubu Support Group, made the appeal in a statement issued in Abakaliki, saying that the state had the raw materials and enabling environment needed to sustain cement production.
He assured Nwifuru of the support of Ebonyi’s National Assembly members, adding that work had commenced at the project site. He also dismissed claims that the factory was the governor’s personal project, insisting that it belonged to the state government.
Ogah warned against attempts to frustrate the initiative, describing the factory as a major opportunity for industrial growth and youth employment.
“Any Ebonyi person trying to sabotage the dream of the state owning its cement factory and having our youths gainfully employed must be seen as an enemy of the state,” he said.
