MELAKA: Pakatan Harapan will bounce back in the coming Melaka election after its disappointing outing in Negri Sembilan, says DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke.
"In politics, there are times we win and there are times we lose," he said in his speech at the unveiling of PH candidates last night.
"Things will not always go our way, but what is important is that we remain in high spirits. In PH, we go through the good and bad times together."
Loke said the PH-led federal government had succeeded in restoring Malaysia's reputation on the global stage while ensuring political stability and economic growth.
He said the situation was different from that in other countries, adding that Putrajaya had kept fuel prices stable through subsidies.
Loke said subsidy rationalisation had made targeted aid possible and allowed savings to be channelled back to the people.
The government, he said, was focused on those in the low- and middle-income groups through Sumbangan Asas Rahmah aid, education assistance and tax incentives.
Loke also said the government was committed to fighting corruption and ensuring government revenue was used for the people's wellbeing.
"We have channelled RM1,000 to taxi drivers from the RM91 million earned through the sale of 'H' number plates.
"To the taxi drivers in Melaka, I will distribute the RM1,000 to you on Monday."
He said it was the government's duty to look after the country and its people, and called on Melaka voters to support PH in the Nov 14 polls.
Last night, PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim unveiled the coalition's candidates for the election, naming candidates for 21 of the 28 seats in the Melaka state assembly.
